Welcome to Jilberto's Mexican Food, a hidden gem nestled at 1301 E Valley Pkwy A, Escondido, CA 92027. This delightful eatery is famed for its authentic Mexican flavors and hearty portions that promise to satisfy even the hungriest of diners. Whether you're grabbing a meal on the go or looking for a casual dining experience, Jilberto's delivers a culinary journey straight to your taste buds.

At Jilberto's, you can indulge in a variety of delicious offerings that showcase the best of Mexican cuisine. The Tostadas shine with options like the Huarrache, featuring a long, thin corn base topped with your choice of meat, beans, lettuce, sour cream, and queso fresco—all for only $7.50. If you're in the mood for something refreshingly different, don't miss the Ceviche Tost, a refreshing combination of shrimp, onion, tomato, and avocado served with tostada and chips for just $10.99.

The menu also boasts an impressive selection of Quesadillas. My personal favorite is the Mar y Tierra Quesadilla, a mouthwatering fusion of carne asada and shrimp fajitas, garnished with lettuce, cheese, and sour cream for $15.50. You can also get creative with the Salsa Choices available, ensuring every bite is customizable to your heat preference—be it mild, medium, or hot.

But it’s not just the food that impresses. The vibe is casual and inviting, making Jilberto’s feel like a community staple. Patrons rave about the generous portions, with customers like Tessa Hewitt noting that her meal provided over three satisfying servings. This speaks volumes about the value offered here, especially considering the rich flavors and quality ingredients used.

Of course, when it comes to standout dishes, one cannot overlook the much-praised Carne Asada Fries, which Jason Atkinson describes as “bomb” with its tender meat and abundance of toppings. Another fan favorite is the machaca burrito, celebrated by Gary B as the best he’s ever had.

While the atmosphere leans towards being a 'grab and go' spot, this only adds to its charm. Amber Dell captures this sentiment perfectly, acknowledging its status as the best hole-in-the-wall Mexican food restaurant around. It’s a place where you can savor a delicious, hearty meal without the frills.

So next time you find yourself in Escondido, make a beeline for Jilberto's Mexican Food. Your taste buds will thank you for it!

Carne asada fries were bomb. Meat was still tender, lots of cheese sour cream and guac, and a huge amount of food. Will visit again.

I don't suggest dining in. It's really a grab and go kinda place, for me anyway. This is the best hole in the wall, Mexican food restaurant in town hands down! I wish that their prices were cheaper. Unfortunately, they're not, but it's still worth it if you want really good mexican food.

Nothing like chips and guacamole at 11pm, great flavor! Quick service even when the place was packed. The rolled tacos were also tasty.

One of my favorite Mexican spots in Esco. Last time I ordered a plate of fries (big enough for like three people!!)a fish burrito, and a medium tamarindo. The tamarindo was really fresh not too sweet. My food was done like 6 minutes after I ordered. Everything tasted incredible like it always does. I truly enjoyed the creamy Chipotle Salsa with my fish burrito.
